This is independent study material for the Transport for London Safety, Equality and Regulatory Understanding (SERU) assessment. It is prepared from the published TfL Private Hire Vehicle Driver's Handbook v1.0 (30 September 2021).

It is not produced, endorsed or approved by Transport for London, and completing it is not a TfL requirement. We do not claim a pass rate and we do not guarantee that you will pass the real assessment. Booking, sitting and passing the SERU assessment is entirely a matter between you and TfL.

The 95% standard used in this course (19 of 20, 29 of 30) is our own standard, set deliberately high. It is not TfL's published pass mark. Always check the current handbook on the TfL website before sitting the assessment — where this course and the current handbook disagree, the handbook is correct.

You need an account to record your progress. Keep your password to yourself; the account is for one person and must not be shared. We may close an account that is shared or used to copy the course material.

Section 1 is free with an account. One payment of £49 opens sections 2 to 10, the glossary and the final mock exam for 12 months from the date of payment. There is no recurring billing, no automatic renewal and no trial. When the 12 months end, your account stays open and returns to section 1 only; you can buy another 12 months at the price shown at that time.

You may ask for a full refund within 14 days of payment, for any reason, as long as you have not passed more than two section quizzes in that time. Email us and we will refund the £49 to the card you paid with, normally within five working days.

After 14 days, or once you have passed more than two section quizzes, the payment is non-refundable, because the material has been delivered. We do not give refunds for failing the real TfL assessment, for a change in the handbook, or for unused time at the end of the 12 months.

A refunded payment ends your access to the paid parts of the course immediately.

The lessons, questions, translations and glossary are our work. You may use them to study. You may not copy, republish, resell or share them, in whole or in part.

We aim to keep the course available at all times but cannot promise uninterrupted service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us.
